BMW gears up for the spotlight at London Motorcycle Show

BMW Motorrad announced today that five new models – the R1200 GS Adventure, K1200 GT, R1200 S, F800 S and F800 ST – will be on display at this year’s MCN London Motorcycle Show.

Following on from its world premiere last October, the new R1200 GS Adventure will take pride of place at Alexandra Palace, alongside the152 hp K1200 GT Gran Turismo. Both machines will be on sale in March.

Furthermore, the world’s most powerful sports Boxer to date – the new R1200 S – will make its debut UK appearance on the BMW stand, enabling sports bike fans to see Motorrad’s 122 hp machine in the metal for the first time. Show visitors will also be able to admire BMW’s new F800 S sports middleweight twin-cylinder machine as well as the more sports-touring orientated F800 ST derivative.

BMW’s MCN Award-winning R1200 RT, R1200 GS and K1200 S motorcycles will also be available for visitors to ‘try for size’, as well as the radical HP2 Enduro.

Race to Dakar competitor, Charley Boorman, will be on the BMW stand on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January to meet fans and reveal more about his gruelling experience participating in the 2006 Euromilhões Dakar Rally. A BMW F650 GS Dakar rally bike will be present throughout the show and enthusiasts can read all the highs and lows experienced by him and his Race to Dakar teammates in the latest issue of BMW Bikes magazine, available to take away from the BMW stand.

As well as bikes galore, BMW Motorrad will have a number of stylish clothing products taken from the new 2006 Rider Equipment collection, such as the new Rallye 2 Pro suit, along with the Streetguard 2 (the first textile suit designed with Cool Technology), Santiago and ProRace leather suits.

For those who want a challenge in 2006, GlobeBusters duo Kevin and Julia Sanders will be on hand both weekends of the show to reveal everything about the new BMW Rider Training that will be launched in April. To be held at the BMW Motorrad Off-Road Skills centre in south Wales, riders now have the opportunity to take part in CBT, Direct Access, refresher and advanced courses under Kevin’s instruction.

Additionally, fans of the double Guinness World Record riding pair will be able to see the BMW R1150 GS Adventure machine ridden by Kevin and Julia in 2002 to achieve the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by motorcycle. The bike will be on special display in the entrance foyer.
